Parents, Teachers and Therapists - Activity for Children Following the Chapter: These imps acted like jockeys; they controlled the children and incited them to
• Discuss with your child/children what it means to be a "Light Warrior". A warrior of light is one who snatch candy, yell "It's mine!" and push anyone who was in their way. If a child
decides who is in charge: the imp or the magical power. (This may also be seen as the ability to use stopped to wait their turn, they would be scolded by their imp, "What are you

and so on.
• Encourage the children to draw or make artwork depicting the power they chose and suggest that
they present it (you may add soft materials to the craft materials you already have, such as fabrics,
cotton balls, pompons).
• Divide the children into groups and ask them to act out how they use their magical power when the
'I Want It Now' Imp takes over. You may suggest a few scenarios to get them started.
• Ask the children to present a dialogue between the magical power they made and the imp they made.
• Ask the children to suggest what magical powers Jonathan's classmates should use.
• Come up with an end to the chapter and describe how the party ends once the children use the
powers they suggested.
Example for a chapter ending:
The children remembered that The Power to Stop and Calm Down was hidden by
Mother Nature in cats who know how to enjoy a nap in the sun.
They also looked at the chameleon in the garden, who waited patiently until a fly
approached and then, at the right moment, rolled out her long, stretchy tongue and
caught it. When the children were reminded of these powers as a result of what they
learned from the animals, they called upon these powers to come and help them. Then
they all calmed down and waited patiently for Jonathan to give each of them a plate
full of sweets. He even agreed to split the dinosaur cake's tail between Ethan and Emily.
When the imps saw that the magical powers returned, they were baffled and panicked.
"The children won't let us take control over them anymore," they said anxiously to
each other. "It is getting boring here... no one likes us anymore..." and so they left with
embarrassment through the window and disappeared.
