Man’s purpose in coming into this world is to serve Hashem. How does
he succeed in this mission? By observing the deeds of the tzaddikim
and learning from them. Tzaddikim are Hashem’s emissaries. Whoever
slights their honor is considered to have slighted the honor of Hashem.
Moreover, he loses the opportunity of having a role model in serving
Hashem.
