Chazal tell us that one must inform his friend upon giving him a gift.
Hashem Himself did this before granting us the greatest gift of all: the
Torah. All the miracles He performed in Egypt and the Wilderness were
a prelude to Kabbalat HaTorah.
“Hashem spoke to Moshe in the Wilderness of Sinai.” The word
(in the Wilderness) can be divided into the words (speak in them).
