What are some of the activities in the villages?
The social calendar is managed by the residents and differs between villages as
activities and clubs are tailored to the interests and hobbies of each village’s residents.
We encourage all new residents to take an active part in forming activities or groups
that appeal to their interests if they don’t already exist in their village.

What is the role of the village manager?
The village manager plays an integral role in the wellbeing of residents and the upkeep
of the village. Uniting wants to ensure that your residence at the village is relaxed,
            peaceful and enjoyable.

What is the INS LifeGuard emergency system and how does it work?
The INS LifeGuard emergency system is fitted in all Uniting units. If an emergency
arises, residents can summon assistance by the dock located in your apartment or villa
or via personal transmitter. The LifeGuard dock features a cordless phone, so you can
make and answer calls without a separate handset.

Can I make changes or improvements to my home?
Each request is reviewed by the village manager with the resident. All improvements
and alterations to your unit will need to be approved before commencement.

Can I have a BBQ in my courtyard or balcony?
Yes, balconies and courtyards have been designed to be an extension of your living
space where you can relax and entertain.

            Can I bring my pets?
Uniting Bowden Brae is pet friendly and recognises the important role pets play in the
lives of older people. You’ll need to get approval from your village manager to make
sure your pet meets our community guidelines.

            Are there resident rules?

Yes, each village has its own set of resident rules. The village manager can provide you
            with a copy.

Do I have to pay stamp duty?
No, you will not pay any stamp duty when moving into a Uniting village.

Will I be paid capital gains when leaving the village?
As Uniting villages operate under a Loan and Licence Agreement, you will not receive
capital gains when exiting the village, nor will you suffer any capital loss if your
property is worth less than when you moved in.

Am I eligible for a rental unit at a Uniting village?
Placements in Uniting rental units are asset tested. To meet the eligibility criteria, you
must not own your own property that could reasonably resolve your housing needs.

Can I have Home Care package services come to my apartment or villa?
Yes, Uniting can provide you with a range of services, which fall into the following three
categories: Care Services, Support Services and Clinical Services. You’ll be able to sit
down with a Uniting team member and decide which ones will best suit you.
