Federal Labor Law reform
In this time of government changes that have not yet been approved and with
different economic expectations in the past three years, we are seeking to
focus on creating growth strategies to be able to face these events.
Approved:
Vacations
Since the enactment of the Federal Labor Law in the 1970’s in Mexico, the time designated
for workers to rest had remained unchanged: 6 vacation days after working for one full
year in the company.
However, in 2022 the reform to the Federal Labor Law (LFT, acronym in Spanish) was
st
approved and came into effect on January 1 , 2023, making significant changes to
workers’ vacation days.
With the reform, instead of taking six minimum days of vacation after one year of service,
workers will now be able to take 12 days of vacation after completing one year and one
day.
Telework Standard 037
In June 2023, a reform was published in the
Official Journal of the Federation, which
came into force in December of this same
year, establishing that it regulates safety
and health at work, although it no longer is a
priority for companies in Mexico, but not to
the format itself, since employees continue
to work from home combining days with in-
person attendance.
