Obituary
To know her is to love her. Julia was born on July 3, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Willie and Evelyn (Clark)
Jackson. She was the third of six children to this union and raised in Chicago before the family relocated
to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Julia completed most of her early education in Catholic Schools before
attending Milwaukee Trade & Technical High School. Julia was among one of the first classes where
women were admitted to the formerly all-male institution. She was always shattering glass ceilings and
clearing a path for others.
Soon after graduation Julia joined the City of Milwaukee, initially part-time before eventually assuming a
full-time position. Over her career with the City of Milwaukee, Julia held many roles before finding her
passion for computers and technology. Her colleagues became her friends and family and she had a
special excitement for helping to organize the annual picnic and festivities. She would dutifully plan and
oversee the games and activities, which allowed her to enjoy her love of sports and healthy competition.
After 30 years of employment with the City of Milwaukee, Julia retired in the fall of 2015.
Julia was most proud of her children Cherice Jackson and Raymone Jackson and took great pride in
supporting their endeavors and cheering them on as they navigated through life. While she became sick
just as she was retiring, Julia took time to travel a bit and spend quality time with her grandson Jayden
Jackson-Euwing.
Julia had a very special way of leaving an impression on everyone that she knew. It was common for
her to host parties, game nights and gatherings which allowed her to spend time with friends and play
some of her favorite games – Jitters, Bid Whist and Po-Ke-No. She had advice for everyone even if you
were only looking for a listening ear. Again, to know her is to lover her.
On Thursday, June 11, 2020, our beautiful and beloved Julia departed this mortal life. She leaves to
cherish her precious memory her father Willie E. Jackson, two children, Cherice Jackson and Raymone
Jackson, and grandson Jayden Jackson-Euwing. Siblings Clara Ann (Jeffrey) Barnes, Patricia (Tyrone)
Jackson, Jerome Jackson and James Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins that are more
like siblings and many friends. Julia will also be deeply missed by her cousin Sharon Thompson that
was by her side throughout her treatment journey, bringing light, laughter and love.
She was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Jackson and brother Michael Jackson.
