Laws Addressing Religious



             Discrimination








                        Employers are obligated to accommodate
                         their employees’ or prospective employees’
                         religious practices (Section 701(j) of Title VII).


                        Nonprofits that are governed by religious
                         institutions are exempt from the law (Section
                         702 of the Civil Rights Act (CRA) of 1964)


                        Educational institutions that are owned,
                         supported, controlled or managed by a
                         religious organization or teach within a
                         specific religious context are exempt from
                         the law 703(3)(2) of CRA of 1964)



                        Faith Based Initiatives: Encourages
                         participation in federal programs by faith
                         based organizations
