Preparedness

Preparedness includes planning and securing
the equipment and supplies needed to save
lives during and following a disaster. It is also
knowing warning signs for the pending
emergency or disaster.

Preparedness includes all actions taken
before the crisis occurs. It includes making
plans, stocking supplies, conducting drills (fire
and earthquake drills, for example), installing
smoke detectors, posting emergency numbers
and so on.

This stage of the disaster recovery cycle is the
most time consuming, as it includes many
tasks.
