ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT
Story and Photos
by Lion Yalin Weng
On March 5, 2020, a group of dedicated Lions
(See photo) gathered at Queens Botanical Gar-
den to volunteer for the District Service Project
#1. The mission was to compost the trees and
shrubs. After a short training session by the
NYC resident arborist, the Lions were prepared
for the task.
At the end of the day, they reported that they
enjoyed the experience and felt that they made a
significant contribution to saving the environ-
ment. They recorded that 114 bags of compost
were packed in two hours and each bag
weighed about 40 lbs.
