SHARING MORE SPRING FLING STORIES
HOLLIS LIONS CLUB
YEAR IN REVIEW
Under the leadership of Lion Presi-
dent Grace Perkins, the club em-
barked on a bold agenda of service
initiatives. We collaborated with our
State Senator Leroy Comrie and
other local politicians within District
27 and St. Alban the Martyr Church
to provide a Disaster Preparedness
Training to members of the commu-
nity. Approximately, one hundred
residents registered for the two hours
training, at the end of which, survival
kits filled with supplies were present-
ed. (see photo).
We also donated twenty pairs of
pajamas to the Pajama Program. Hollis pajama program donation
Over one hundred toys and two hun-
dred book bags filled with school
supplies were donated to Forestdale Hollis sharing food for our veterans
Foster Care Center and Relume
Foundation in Africa. Members also
engaged in environmental projects by
recycling clothes hangers, used eye-
glasses, forty-five used medical con-
tainers, cans and bottles. Over three
hundred pounds of newspapers were
donated to a Pet Store in Brooklyn.
We also distributed 80 gift bags with
supplies to Hollis Manor Nursing
Home. Another project honored our
veterans with a summer barbeque
and most recently provided lunch for
health care workers at Jamaica Hos-
pital with the help of Dr. Rubin.
