The Kings & Queens
Dear Lions of Multiple District 20,
Where do I begin? The last few weeks have produced a flood of emotions for me.
First, hearing about the death of First International Vice President Haynes Townsend was a major blow to all who knew him –
and to our Lions across the globe. His leadership as International President was highly anticipated – and his message (and life) of
kindness resonated with all. I remain deeply saddened by the news of his passing.
To then receive a call from Lions Clubs International leadership about the possibility of assuming Judge Townsend’s role – well,
it stunned me. Yet, here I am today, writing to you as the newly appointed First International Vice President of our great associa-
tion. I am honored to move forward in that capacity – to serve the Lions of the world.
So many of you have reached out personally to share your congratulations and pledge your support for what lies ahead. For that,
I thank you from the bottom of heart.
The path forward has a few hurdles for us to overcome. We have much work to accomplish between now and our international
convention. As you know, I have to be elected as International President at the convention – and I need your active support and
prayers.
In sum, I was humbled when asked to assume the responsibilities of first vice president, I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of
kind words from the Lions in New York and Bermuda, and I want you to know, I am bursting with pride as a member of Multi-
ple District 20. You are an amazing group of Lions. Let's continue to serve our communities with kindness - because kindness
truly does matter. See you in Singapore!
