MENTAL HEALTH COMMITTEE
STATUS UPDATE
On October 1, 2022, Lion Merle Warren (Chairperson) was the guest speaker for the “Wellness Moment” at the United
Women in Faith, Long Island West District, Annual Meeting 2022.
The theme for the virtual zoom meeting was Healing and Joy: On Our Journey to God, and was attended by 95
Women of Faith. Lion Merle’s topic was “Mental Health Awareness: She advised, “Take care of yourself in times of
storms” and discussed the eight (8) areas of Self-Care: Physical, Psychological, Emotional, Social, Professional,
Environmental, Financial, and Spiritual. The presentation was well received and the women’s group expressed interest
in a partnership with the District 20-K1 Mental Health Committee for future presentations at their local unit meetings.
On October 16, 2022, Chairperson Merle Warren and Committee Members Iris Allen and Bernice Fraser attended the
“in-person” monthly meeting of the Friends of Barbados, with 20 other attendees.
Lion Chairperson Merle again presented on the topic “Mental Health Awareness: Taking Care of Yourself in Times of
Storms.” The presentation was followed by a Q&A segment.
The President of Friends of Barbados noted that he looked forward to partnering with the Mental Health Committee to
provide another training on another mental health topic.
Other programs are scheduled for a “to be announced date” in the Winter and a Mental Health Town Hall in May
2023 during Mental Health Awareness Walk.
