TECHNICAL
SYMPOSIA
“POST COVID “vkRefuHkZjrk” IN PIPELINE INTEGRITY FOR A
SUSTAINABLE FUTURE” provides a unique look at different Pipeline
Integrity Management system domains, corrosion management best
practices across multiple industry sectors, and advancements in
corrosion mitigation technology. The main tracks are:
I) CATHODIC PROTECTION OF BURIED ASSETS (CPB):
Buried metallic structures in contact with an electrolyte such as soil are prone to ill effects of
corrosion which can be countered by deploying galvanic or impressed current cathodic
protection systems. This symposium will include papers on cathodic protection of cross-country
pipelines, vessels, tanks, sacrificial anode protection, analysis and case studies.
II) COATINGS (CTG):
Coatings provide primary protection to structures in contact with a corrosive environment and
are used industry-wide as a primary source of protection. This symposium will include papers
on anti-corrosion coatings, Heat shrink sleeves, Cold applied tapes, liquid coatings,
Visco-elastic coatings for various assets.
III) INLINE INSPECTION OF PIPELINES (ILI):
Once the pipelines are laid, maintenance and inspection play an important role for ascertaining
healthiness of assets. Of the various inspection techniques deployed, inline inspection is
considered as one of the most effective technology for accurately pinpointing pipeline defects.
This symposium will include papers on various methodologies to locate, identify and size
corrosion defects and to support integrity management requirements.
IV) MARINE CORROSION (MC):
Marine systems are most prone to corrosion due to their continuous contact with high
conductivity electrolyte which is salty water. This symposium will include papers on corrosion in
offshore pipelines and their protection/remedial measures for countering marine corrosion.
V) CORROSION MONITORING AND MITIGATION IN CITY GAS DISTRIBUTION (CGD):
Protecting City Gas Distribution system against corrosion is yet another challenging area since
CGD network shares common ROU with other utilities and may be susceptible to various types
of interferences. This symposium will include papers on requirement for developing and
implementing an effective and efficient integrity management plan for city gas distribution.
VI) ECONOMICS OF CORROSION: SECURE METAL, ENSURE CAPITAL (SMEC):
India has to spend a huge amount on rehabilitation of various infrastructural facilities affected
by corrosion. Corrosion wipes off staggering 8 lakh crore rupees of India’s GDP per annum.
Enormous savings to the tune of 3 lakh crore rupees can be realized per annum by deploying
available corrosion control methodologies. This symposium will include papers on various case
studies across various industries where the corrosion menace is fought through various
innovative methodologies in the form on online monitoring, mitigation measures or assessment
for capital gains.
