The delegation consists of 4 athletes in the cadet
and junior category. Aruba will be represented by
the two female siblings that are very successful in
the taekwondo sport Chiara and Sophia Petroc-
chi and two male athletes Alex Fernandez and
Christian Croes. Their coach is Teofilo Rodriguez.
The competition serves as a preparation for the
major Pan American Cadet and Junior compe-
tition which will take place in the upcoming
months in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
The Aruban taekwondo team has shined interna-
tionally recently thanks to male athlete John Jairo
Maduro who fought two medal fights during the
2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
This shows hard Aruba’s taekwondo team is
working to compete on a higher level and stand
out in tournaments held abroad.
We hope to hear from our delegation that par-
ticipated in the 2015 Pan American Taekwondo
Youth Open in Chicago, United States this week-
end and hope that all went well.
