Aruba Officially Opens Carnival Season With the Torch Parade!

ORANJESTAD- Saturday
Oranjestad was filled with
people who came togeth-
er to celebrate the official
start of Carnival Season
with the Torch Parade (or
as the locals call it, the
“Fakkel Parade”).
Although there aren’t
torches to be seen, it is still
called the Torch Parade.
Thousands of people came
together to dance to the
tunes of the bands play-
ing. It started around 8
o’clock, and the last band
reached the end of the
route around 1 o’clock in
the morning.
The 62nd Carnival Season
has officially started!q
