Rotterdam’s first Esports minor at Albeda College
AS esports is getting more attention and popularity,
Rotterdam has taken note of this. Staring from the 1 of
st
February 2023, the Albeda College of Economics and
Entrepreneurship will be offering a minor in Esports.
Gaming (playing video games) has evolved so much, that
it’s no longer played just to relax. It has become a serious
daytime activity for many people worldwide, and is played
competitively and professionally, and that is the world of
esports.
Minor Esports
Albeda in collaboration with H20 esports campus will be
starting a minor in esports. This minor is part of marketing
and communication special course. In this minor, students
will learn how to use esports as a marketing tool. There will
be two locations where the students will be educated: In
the Go! Gaming center of Pathe Schouwburg and at Albeda.
Lessons consists of: Marketting, Communications and the
modern technique of live streaming and broadcasting.
Marketting
There are many reasons why esports is useful as a marketing
tool. The events attract many audiences worldwide, which

for people with disabilities. Permastunned
was founded by a Belgian gamer named
Alexander “Cristal1337” Nathan together
with three other gamers/streamer “Yakobis”,
“Shattovv” and “Adante” in 2019. They are
the only esports organization in the world
where all the members are disabled.
Their focus is to participate in esports events
but also raise awareness for the struggles of
disabled gamers in the face of esports and
aim to help the industry adopt more inclusive
practices.
And they have officially become the largest
esports team for people with disabilities.

Employment
One of the benefit of taking this minor is that you can use
this to apply for any esports (or non-esports) related job.
In my past articles I wrote about how some countries are
using esports to help boost their economy, and many more
will follow this trend, so there will be a lot esports related job
opportunities. And you will still be able to use this minor in
non-esports related work.
