Rescued dog from Aruba: Novi
MY husband’s family has been coming
to Aruba since 1982. My husband Tom
and I have inherited our love of Aruba
and come for two weeks every October.
About 6 years ago I met a woman
named Zoey who has started the Luna
Foundation. I knew for years I wanted
to rescue a dog from our favorite island
of Aruba. But I had a sassy elderly dog
at home that I knew would not appre-
ciate a new pup in the house. We lost
our Lucy in August of 2020- but with
Covid we did not come to Aruba.
Last October we were on the island
and I was feeding the stray street days
when I heard about the November 1,
2021 Freedom flight.
Our “Nova” now, Novi needed a
sponsor to fly. I was sent 2 photos
and I knew she was the Aruba dog I
had been searching for. We returned
to the USA and awaited word of details
for Novi arriving in the States.
I drove 9 hours to wait for her arrival
in Jacksonville, Florida. It was love at
first sight!
Novi is happy, funny, crazy smart and
the sweetest girl.
I always say Novi rescued me,
3 months after getting Novi we unex-
pectedly lost our 10 year old Boston
Terrier, Mason and honestly I would
have been completely lost if I did not
have my crazy island girl! My Novi
saved me!!
I continue to feed the street dogs every
morning during my stay and take dona-
tions to the rescues and foundations. I
am passionate about helping all the
dogs I can while on island and tell all
who will listen to me about rescuing
the dogs from Aruba!
