CONCLUDED
WITH a beautiful and majestic closing ceremony
Toronto concluded the 2015 Pan American Games
on Sunday. A Pan American Game where 80 records
were broken and that will go down in history due to
the impact it had on Toronto and its citizens.
What stood out most from this year’s games was the
record breaking female participants, which were a
total of 45%.
Some new female sports were even introduced at
the 2015 Toronto Pan American Games like female
baseball, kayak, rugby and golf.
More than 1 million people visited the organizations
website every day during the competition, whereas
more than 220 million tweets regarding the Pan
American Games were tweeted on twitter every day
also Pan Am Toronto’s Facebook page received more
than 5.5 million likes.
All the delegates entered the famous Rogers Centre
stadium together screaming and applauding, among
them the Aruban delegation. Thashaina Seraus who
competed in bowling and made Aruba very proud a
few days ago was the Aruban flag bearer.
The show featured a lot of interesting parts, with
performances by artists like Serena Ryder a Toronto
native and singers such as Pitbull and Kanye West;
everyone enjoyed themselves and the spectacular
show.
The main theme of the show was celebration of the
culture, unity, dedication and diversity of Toronto.
The torch was dulled while the song ‘Shine your light’
was sung by a group of children. The song had an
inspirational message for everyone, telling them to
keep the fire of hope alive for the generations that
follow. After this beautiful song the 2015 Toronto
Pan American Games concluded, accompanied by the
famous fireworks that lit up the entire Toronto sky.
Our Aruban athletes will represent and defend our
country in the 2019 Lima Pan American Games on
July 26, 4 years from now.
