The Paardenbaai Project extends our
people’s knowledge in an artistic way

as the Paardenbaai art pieces. Only by dedi-

According to Tromp-Lee the benefit of Art and Culture
is not always tangible and can’t always yield financial
benefits but it is still extremely important to invest in
art. To support her statement she presented three ben-
efits that directly relate to these types of investments
which is the case in the Paardenbaai Project.

“One of the most important benefits is the impact
that this has on the Aruban community’s develop-
ment process especially school kids’ development
process. Numerous studies show that kids can
learn a lot through art, for example it Works as a
cognitive stimulus, stimulates dimensional per-
spective, they learn about general history all while
learning more about the arts.” Shailiny Tromp-Lee
mentioned. She also added that this contributes to
parents raising more intelligent children.

Regarding the Paardenbaai Project Tromp-Lee
mentioned that it brings art closer to the public
while expanding their knowledge because it edu-
cates them on the beautiful history that Paarden-
baai has to offer.
This Public art piece should also make our com-
munity so both Young ones and adults to do more
research about this history so as to gain a better
understanding of what it means to us.

Another interesting point made by Shailiny Tromp-
Lee is the huge value of our cultural heritage and
our history to our community, because it tells them
more about what they were, where they were, who
they are and most importantly how we’ve devel-
oped to what we are today.
Consequently history shows people more about
where they need to be and what they can do to
