Croes at the closing ceremony of the ‘Power of Youth’ Project.
In a completely packed Ritz Carlton ballroom the kids from the
Power of Youth Project where applauded, commended and recog-
nized for all the important things they do for our country.
The Power of Youth commission dedicated 5 months towards
nominating teens that stood out in different categories in our
community.
A total of 15 teens were picked to receive leadership enhancement
courses.
Each one of them had to give a presentation displaying their lead-
ership skills in front of a large audience and judges on August 10
and 11.
They used a lot of creativity, professionalism and humility to prove
their capacity.
On the International Youth Day which was August 12 the winners
of this Project were announced. Winner of the 12 to 17 age group
Sports: Wuill Vrolijk, a humble teen from Village that won the gold
medal in athletics for Aruba this year. His passions include raping
and playing sports. Wuill Vrolijk is passionate about teacher our
kids athletics and is extremely proud of being Aruban. His proud-
est and happiest moment was when he won the gold medal in
Colombia, since this was his opportunity to make his island proud.
Congratulations on your award Wuill, you are an example for
everyone, especially other teens in Aruba.
Winner of the 18-24 age group Volunteer work: Aldrich Dijkhoff, a
very dedicated and patient Young man, who absolutely loves kids.
He was nominated by 3 foundations in the volunteer work sec-
tion. He proved his coaching capacities during his presentation.
He coaches mini mini football at RCA and talked about his pas-
sion for taking care of kids and the patience needed to guide 3 to
6 year olds.
He was a volunteer at many hospital activities and has worked as
a volunteer in many kids camps. He is currently studying as IPA
to become a teacher for kids between the ages of 4 to 6. He is a
respectful Young man with a lot of dedication towards volunteer
work.
RCA, Scout Ora Ubao, Hospibondys and all other friends and fam-
ily are proud of you.
On behalf of the Social Affairs, Youth and Labor Ministry, Paul
Croes congratulates all the nominees and the Youth Power Com-
mission which consist of Ricky Hoek, Elsa Krosendijk, Mily Molina-
Granviel, Yvonne Lee-Tromp, Jhon Freddy Montoya and Kindrah
de Cuba-Sprok.
ATHA has proven through this Project that it is possible to motivate
our Young ones to do positive things and to put them in a more
positive light.
This Project has surely infected the entire Aruban community
especially our Young ones with great joy and has motivated more
Young ones to show the rest of the world that our country has a
bright future.
“I am extremely happy with the seed that has been planted in the
hearts of our Young ones and foresee that this will yield its results,”
these where the final words of Minister Paul Croes.
