Also last Monday the Minister of Tourism, Public Health
and sports Mr. Dangui Oduber was present at Playa Lin-
da in connection with their 35 anniversary. The Minister
had the honor to share some words of inspiration during
this commemorative ceremony. This anniversary marks a
historic day for the tourism in Aruba looking back at the
past. Thanks to the people who had a vision from the be-
ginning and believed in the importance of the tourism for
our island as an important pillar to our economy. Thanks
to them we can say that tourism is one of our biggest
achievements for the island.

In the beginning of the 80’s “The Playa Linda Develop-
ment Company” took over the Basiruti Hotel, which was
the first hotel build on Palm Beach, and you can noticed
that only goodness could come out of it. With the help of
a team of local individuals and great companies such as
Mr. Raymond Maduro of “ The sun development compa-
ny”, Dan Oduber who was the architect and Albo Aruba
among others were crucial in the building of Playa Linda
which is today one of the leaders in Timeshare Resorts
here in Aruba and the region. Nowadays Playa Linda
consists of 200 rooms with a high occupancy during the
whole year. Thanks to the staff and management that
are always ready to provide the best service and expe-
rience to their visitors which make them want to return
back.

Minister Dangui Oduber also enlightened his thankfulness
for the effort that the entire community of Playa Linda
has given for the tourism of Aruba and wished them all
the best of luck for the future. Mr. Raymond Maduro & Mr.
Dan Oduber are considered pioneers of our tourism. q
