Activity 3 What I Like Best is …

                  A. Writing a book report is a good activity after you finish reading a book. In this part, you will learn
                      how to write one.

Sharing your experience of reading with others can benefit you in several ways. First of all, your
reading comprehension improves when you talk about what you read. And second, sharing ideas and
information about your book with others is enjoyable, and this enjoyment can motivate you to read
more. One of the many ways to share books with your classmates and teacher is by writing a book
report. Your book report should contain the following points.
                         1. About the Book and the Author 2. Main Characters
                            a. What is the title of the book you read? a. Who are the main characters?
                            b. Who is the author?
                            c. What is the genre of the book?
                         3. Summary of the Book 4. Your Reaction to the Book
                            a. What happened in the beginning? a. Did you enjoy it? Why or why not?
                            b. What happened in the middle? b. What did you like best about this
                            c. What happened in the end? book?
                                                                        c. What did you like least?
                                                                        d. Would you recommend this book to a
                                                                            friend? Explain.
                                                                  Adapted from https://www.slideshare.net/10y2try/book-report-sample

Here is an example of a book report.

                                                            Book Report

Title: The Bad Beginning: A Terrible Tale
                     Author: Lemony Snicket
                     Genre: Fantasy
Main Characters: Violet, Klaus, Sunny, and Uncle Olaf

                     Summary of the Book:
Violet (fourteen-year-old girl,) Klaus (twelve-year-old boy), and Sunny (infant-girl,) are playing
on a beach one day when a man walks up and tells them that their parents just died in a house fire.
To add to their good news, they are forced to live with a man named Count Olaf, who is a
distant relative (and happens to be an actor.) It becomes obvious that Olaf only wants the children
in order to find a way to get at their parent’s fortune. He treats them very poorly, giving them
unrealistic chores, terrible sleeping arrangements, and even goes so far as to strike Klaus in the
                     face.
One day Olaf shows an odd act of kindness, and talks the Baudelaire orphans into taking part of
a play called “The Marvelous Marriage.” Klaus finds out that Olaf’s plan is to use a real judge, give
guardian consent, and have Violet say “I do.” The play is intended to be a real wedding, which
would give Olaf access to the fortune that Violet is too young to access herself. Appalled, both
