PAPER PRESENTATION 2019
In general, research-based paper follows three research paradigms
namely qualitative, quantitative and mixed method. Denscombe (2007) affirms
that the main difference of those three paradigms lies on the unit of analysis.
Quantitative research tends to be associated with numbers as the unit of
analysis. In contrast, qualitative research tends to be associated with words or
images as the unit of analysis. Mixed method is then the combination between
qualitative and quantitative research paradigm. Further, Creswell (2010) argues
that one of the differences between the three previously mentioned paradigms is
on its method of data collection. The differences are highlighted in the following
table.
No Research Paradigm Data collection technique
1 Qualitative Interview
2 Quantitative Questionnaire
3 Mixed Interview & Questionnaire
Note that the methods of data collection vary depending on the chosen
paradigm. The above table is intended to be used as a general guide for this
course.
DISCUSSION UNDERSTANDING RESEARCH-BASED PAPER

SKELETONS
Research-based paper primarily functions as a report of your small-scale
investigation. Therefore, its parts present the overall process in conducting research
systematically. The following table highlights the functions of each element in a
research-based paper.
