Here are some sentences from a Methods chapter. The sentences still use the
regular words that mostly preferred by researchers. Revise the sentences by
using recommended substitutes.

1. This research used observation, field notes and interview as data collection.

2. The researcher used field notes to support her direct observation.

3. The researcher created a certain condition that similar to the object’s natural
environment.

4. This study performed random sampling method to represent the population.

5. Since it was important to create a real class condition, the researchers
performed observation outside the room.

Generic Structure

These are excerpts taken from some parts of Methods chapter of Athens as an
International Tourism Destination: An Empirical Investigation to the City’s
Imagery and the Role of Local DMO’s by Spyros Langos (2014).

1. Content analysis was used to analyze the data which was gathered from personal
interviews. According to Moore & McCabe (2005), this is the type of research
whereby data gathered is categorized in themes and sub-themes, so as to be able
to be comparable. A main advantage of content analysis is that it helps in data
collected being reduced and simplified, while at the same time producing results
that may then measured using quantitative techniques. Moreover, content
analysis gives the ability to researchers to structure the qualitative data collected
in a way that satisfies the accomplishment of research objectives.
