               Read these sentences carefully and analyze some which make sense well [ √ ] and some
               which do not [ X ].
                1.  An increasing proportion of the government money available to
                     undergraduate students for maintenance.
                2.  Proper research must be conducted to come up with the best measure
                     possible to solve the issue.
                3.  Through the use of such things as maps, photographs, regional studies,
                     oral histories, and historic documents of surrounding sites.
                4.  The interview about students’ model of reading before and after the
                     experiment.
                5.  Computerization, along with other changes in industrial revolution,
                     reduces the prices of many goods.




                 To make a complete sentence, minimally you need to have one subject and one
                 verb. You can use other parts of speech to build on this basic structure.


               Good writers use a variety of sentence structures to make their work more interesting.
               Below are some basic sentence patterns in English to enhance your writing.



                Subject - Verb                   The number decreased.


                Subject – Linking Verb - Noun    The type of the data is numeric data.


                Subject – Linking Verb -         The experiment is successful.
                Adjective

                Subject – Verb – Adverb          All participants responded quickly.
