How to Play the Game:
1. The students are divided into four teams.
2. Each team takes turns to come forward while the other three teams remain seated and act as the
audience.
3. The presenting team is given a card with a secret argument or topic written on it.
4. Team members take turns to explain the argument without stating it directly. Each speaker must:
• Provide a casual reason using connectors such as because, since,
etc.
• Include rebuttal using expressions like some may say…, but….
• Avoid saying any forbidden or key words written on the card.
5. The team has 2 minutes to present their clues.
6. The audience must guess the original argument or topic based on the clues
given.
7. 1 point is given for each correct guess.
8. Rotate teams and repeat the process.
6 Focus Group Discussion
Work in a group of three, each plays a role as written in the box. In your discussion, you need to use the
previously learnt language expressions and vocabulary.
Student A states a claim/argument
Student B supports the argument with evidence using causal phrases
Student C rebuts Use the following prompts for the discussion.

9. Artificial intelligence will take away more jobs than it creates.
10. Celebrities are bad role models for teenagers.
