5 Speaking Game: Let’s Guess the Argument.
How to Speak at Length
To help talking lengthily when presenting arguments with evidence, use the
following strategy.
P.E.E. L (Point – Explain – Example – Link)
This is the easiest and most structured way to help students expand a short answer into a longer,
organized response.
Example Prompt: Should school uniforms be required?
Response Using PEEL:
✓ Point: " I believe that school uniforms should be required".
✓ Explain: “According to a survey by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES),
75% of students felt more connected to their school when wearing uniform” .
✓ Example: "For example, in my school, after the implementation of uniform at school,
students are more focused on studies."
✓ Link: "Despite some criticisms, uniforms create a more equal and focused learning
environment."
Why it works: It’s simple to remember, builds confidence, and keeps students from freezing
mid-sentence.
