                  4 READING: Let’s go there!

                  A. Identifying sequence. Read the text.

                        Identifying sequence
Sequencing refers to the identification of the components of a story, such as the beginning,

middle, and end, and also the ability to retell the events within a given text in the order in

which they occurred. The ordering of events in a story, along with connecting words such as

once upon a time, first, next, then, later, after that, in the end, finally, etc.

                      Strategy:

Look for signal words like first, next, last, before, after and finally to help you figure out the
sequence. You can also use other word clues in the text or your own knowledge, “What I know
                        clues,” to find the sequence.
Re-arrange the sentences into a good story.

First, in the morning, I go to the market with my mother to buy daily needs --- Then, I go to

campus to study. --- Every day I visit some places ---After we get what we need, I drop my

mother home. ---Finally, I visit my grandmother’s house to have a dinner there --- I usually
spend my campus activities until afternoon.
