                            Pronunciation

Intonation is about how we say things, the way the voice rises and falls when speaking.

There are two basic patterns of intonation in English: falling intonation and rising
intonation . Falling intonation is the most common intonation pattern in English.

Imperative sentences use this pattern. Here are the examples:

                            • Stay on the line.
                            • Don’t splint any injury.
                            • Reassure him that help is on the way.

Practice the sentences above using correct intonation.

                        Speaking

In pairs, make a dialogue of an emergency situation about a suffocation case (drowning, drug overdose,

emergency operator. Include suitable responds from the caller. Act out your script in front of the classroom.
