Short term:
After 8 hours of nursing interventions, the patient will be able to report that pain is relieved or
controlled.
Long term:
After 2-3 days of nursing interventions, the patient will be able to demonstrate the use of relaxation
techniques and diversional for individual situation.
Intervention
• Assess the patient’s health care literacy
• Teach the importance of adhering to the prescribed medication therapy
• Teach medication actions, administration times, side effects, adverse effects, and the importance
of taking as prescribed.
