A. Assessing Patient's Condition
Getting Started
Read the dialogue between Nurse Aisha and Mr. Ahmed carefully. After reading, answer the questions
based on Mr. Ahmed’s responses and the information provided in the conversation.
Nurse : “Assalamu alaikum, Mr. Ahmed. I see you’ve been feeling quite stressed lately.
How have you been managing it?”
Patient : “Wa alaikum assalam, Nurse Aisha. It’s been tough, honestly. I’ve been feeling
really overwhelmed with work and home.”
Nurse : “I’m sorry to hear that. Who helps you when you feel overwhelmed?”
Patient : “My wife does. She’s always there to help me calm down.”
Nurse : “That’s great. And besides your wife, who do you talk to about your stress? Do you
share this with anyone else?”
Patient : “Not really. I try to handle most of it on my own. I don’t like burdening people.”
Nurse : “I understand. When do you usually start feeling stressed during the day?”
Patient : “Mostly in the afternoons, after dealing with work calls. It just piles up by then.”
Nurse : “And at work, who supports you or steps in if things get too busy?”
Patient : “I guess one of my coworkers helps sometimes, but not often.”
Nurse : “Okay, it’s important to have support both at home and work. What do you usually
do to try and relieve stress on your own?”
Patient : “I try to relax by watching TV or going for a walk, but it doesn’t always help.”
(After completing the assessment and providing supportive care)
Nurse : “Alhamdulillaahirobbil’alamiin. May Allah ease your stress and grant you peace.
Please remember, Mr. Ahmed, that support and good coping strategies are
crucial.”
(After concluding)
Nurse : “Before I leave, let’s recite a prayer for your recovery together. Allahumma rabban
naas mudzhibal ba’si isyfi antasy-syaafii laa syafiya illaa anta syifaa’an laa
yughaadiru saqoman.”
Patient : “Ameen. Thank you, Nurse Aisha, for your help.”
Nurse : “You’re very welcome. Assalamu alaikum, and may Allah bless you with strength.”
Patient : “Wa alaikum assalam, and thank you again.”
