Learning Objectives

At the end of this lesson, you must be able to:
1. classify different cell types and specify the funcons of each; and
2. describe some cell modificaons that lead to adaptaon to carry
out specialized funcons.
Plants and animals have a similar level of biological organizaon in terms
of the cell being the basic unit of life. A group of specialized cells that perform
a parcular funcon is called a ssue. An organ is a structure composed of mulple
ssues.
