               An ex ante damages calculation's lower damages figure represents the idea that damages from the past
               are not treated as amounts certain, but with some risk as of the date of the damages event (for example, a
               breach of contract), whereas an ex post damages calculation treats past damages as amounts known or
               certain, with the benefit from the use of information known and learned since the damages event. Case
               facts, venue, and law are important considerations because they may provide insight on whether an ex
               post or ex ante damages calculation is proper.
