During a trial, the opposing attorneys present their sides of the case on behalf of their respective clients.
The attorneys call fact and expert witnesses for testimony, enter exhibits, and make arguments to the
judge or jury to support their positions on various issues.
After all evidence has been presented to the court by both the petitioner and the respondent, the trial
concludes, and either the judge or a jury rules on the issues in dispute. At this time, a final order granting
the divorce may be issued by the court. Although this order ends the marriage, there may be postjudg-
ment applications for reconsideration, appeal, or both.
