 OVERVIEW
Safety and Wellness programs have been presented to the trucking industry as another scenario where the phrase, “If you build it, they will come” was to apply. Basically, if you create a great system, employees will instinctively recognize the benefit. However, we know that is not true and it takes more to make a impact on truck drivers.
To achieve our goal of reaching the “not so willing driver(s)” we knew that a culture of safety and wellness had to come from the top— with the full support Foltz Trucking ownership and their upper management team.
This approach not only helped to reach those drivers who liked the program from the start, it changed those who said “I don’t need that stuff ” — into some of the biggest safety and wellness supporters/ cheerleaders of Foltz Trucking.
The results— drivers shared with their peers (outside of Foltz Trucking) that they worked for a company that cares about their well-being and suggested that they check it out for themselves.
