editor's note
I didn't miss the Halloween angle, I promise! While Halloween is my absolute
favorite holiday (and by that I mean autumn color schemes, fantastical hot
chocolate, and semi-spooky decorations or at least scary things that I can watch
without having nightmares thanks to my overactive imagination), October is also a
special month for writers for a different reason - NaNoWriMo Prep begins! And
that's the one I wanted to highlight on this month's cover.
That's "write" babies, we've come all the way around the calendar and back to
another National Novel Writing Month - all over the world, writers are pulling
together notes and character sheets and getting ready for what really is a
tremendous challenge - completing 50,000 words in 30 days.
So tell me everything - are you participating this year? Cheering someone on? Either
way, be sure to check out www.nanowrimo.org for all your NaNo needs, including
your banners and IG photos so that you can connect with others taking on this
year's writing feat! Also be sure to keep an eye on Twitter - come December, there
will be agents looking for the best of the bunch. That can totally be you!
Enjoy this month's issue! It's packed with NaNo Prep rituals and tips of
my own and those of a couple of my friends, writing spaces for
inspiration on your own set up, and my latest obsession - haikus. I don't
know what's wrong with me, but I can't stop haiku-ing. These are all
NaNo related, though so - hopefully you'll get a kick out of them. And I
did promise a cover reveal this month, so look for it in this issue
immediately after this month's Book Beau. Have a great month!
