Wow, November already?
This has really seemed like the longest year, so much so that it's odd to see it
wrapping up. I hope everyone had an amazing time with their families (chosen or
biological) celebrating Halloween/Samhain/Dia de Los Muertos! With Oct 31st at
our backs, the holiday season is here! Now we're feast shopping, turning our
clocks back, and (for some of us) officially diving into National Novel Writing
Month.
For those who aren't in the know, National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo
from here on in) happens every November, and writers all over the world sprint
and claw their way to writing 50,000 words in the form of a roughly drafted
novel in 30 days. That breaks down to 1,666 words a day - it doesn't seem like
much to some, but imagine being in college and having to write roughly two
essays a day for an entire month. It's a challenge! But it's one many of face every
year not just for picking up the discipline of writing every day, but for the
opportunity to connect with fellow writers near and far.
It's with that in mind that I present you with this issue, two weeks early so that I
can focus on the month, the writing, and to be able to get our newsletter on a
more solid monthly schedule. I'm also giving a re-run to our 'A Woman To Know'
article about Katie - now that I've figured out the flipbook situation, it deserves to
presented the way I meant it to be seen. :)
Writing or not, have a great November and a Happy Thanksgiving! See you in
December. <3
