    This semester course is centered on the development of an understanding of the principles of design and the elements of art. Fundamental skills in pencil, watercolor, charcoal, tempera, pen and ink, pastels, acrylics and various materials are emphasized. A variety of three-dimensional materials are used to increase interest, to develop skills and to stimulate creative thinking.
  Fundamentals of Drawing

    This semester course introduces students to classical and contemporary drawing techniques and concepts, with emphasis on the understanding of its formal language and the fundamentals of artistic expression. Students will develop observational abilities and rendering skills in this introduction to the fine art of drawing. Students will be introduced to methods of describing objects in terms of line, value, shape and texture. Course assignments help to explore the principles of light, space, composition, and perspective using a variety of drawing media and techniques. PREREQUISITE: Student must have all of the following:
