This semester course is designed to enhance and expand the classical and contemporary drawing techniques learned in Fundamentals of Drawing. Advanced drawing techniques such as stippling, hatching, cross-hatching, and scumbling will be incorporated into a variety of multimedia projects including pen & ink, charcoal, and pastels. Using advanced drawing skills and techniques to make an ordinary drawing appear three dimensional is the goal. Students should take this course before proceeding to Art IV or A.P. Art unless advised by an art teacher.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have all of the following:

This semester course will be composed of students in 10th - 12th grades. Some of the students in this class will have various needs that restrict their ability to participate in a typical Art classes. As a result of these needs, these students would benefit from a partner approach to Art class. This course would benefit students who want a career in ​education and/or social work​. All students in this class will work together to fulfill the expectations and requirements of Art class. Students will meet six times in a 6-day cycle.
RECOMMENDATION: Student must have all of the following: ● B or better in Art class the previous year.
Fundamentals of Painting

This semester course introduces students to classical and contemporary painting techniques and concepts with emphasis on the understanding of its formal language and the fundamentals of artistic expression. Painting from still-life, landscape, realism, and various painting styles will be explored. Color theory, linear perspective, compositional structure, figure/ground relationships, visual perception, spatial concepts, and critical thinking skills will all be emphasized. We will study and research major painting styles and movements in art history.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have all of the following: ● Elements & Principles of Design.
Contemporary Design

This semester course is designed to help anyone interested in learning more about modern and contemporary art. In this course, you will explore a variety of art media and techniques as well as modern design concepts. Through a variety of resources, videos, slideshows, readings, and activities, you will be exposed to contemporary art while doing a variety of multimedia projects reflecting modern art trends.

Sculpture

This semester course is designed for students to discover the connections between sculpture and other art disciplines as they relate specifically to three-dimensional art. Students will create sculptural and functional forms using additive, subtractive and fabrication techniques while learning how sculpture has played a significant role in the development of cultures throughout the world.
