Physics is a study of the natural laws and how they affect our lives. The course is designed to meet the requirements of students who expect to enter college, but is also of value to any student who desires to understand how natural laws operate. The year’s work is divided into units on vectors, one dimensional and two-dimensional motion, forces, energy, momentum, and wave phenomena. PASCO science workshop interfacing equipment aids in laboratory experiments. Students will utilize computers to display data, analyze the data, and create graphs.
This class meets for 9 periods per six-day cycle. PREREQUISITE: Student must have all the following:
● Successful completion of Chemistry
● Concurrent enrollment in Pre Calc/Trigonometry
Introduction to Geoscience

Introduction to Geoscience is designed to aid the junior or senior student in attaining a broader knowledge of the physical world in which they live. This includes both the physical aspects of our world in combination with our universe. By understanding the physical world students will be able to understand the changes that affect the system as a whole. Through reading, discussion, computer research, current events projects, and engineering students will gain a better understanding of the significance of the basic principles of geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy in their everyday lives.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have the following:
● Successful completion of Biology.

The AP Biology course is equivalent to a first-year college biology course. It follows the guidelines laid out by the College Board. The course’s emphasis is on science as a process, scientific inquiry, and recognition of unifying themes that integrate the major topics of biology. This course is broken down into three areas of study: 25% molecules and cells, 25% genetics and evolution, and 50% organisms and populations. In addition, students must conduct twelve to fourteen (either identical or modified) of the College board suggested AP Biology laboratories. The course is strongly recommended for any student considering medical and allied health profession at the college level. In order to receive weighted grading credit for the class, students must earn a B or better in the class(click ​here​ for AP policy).

● Final grade of B or higher in Honors Biology OR teacher recommendation​.
● Final grade of B or higher in Honors Chemistry OR Teacher recommendation.
● Composite score of Proficient or Advanced in all 3 Keystone Exams.
AP Chemistry

The AP Chemistry course is equivalent to a first-year college chemistry course. Topics such as atomic structure, equilibrium, kinetics, and thermodynamics are covered in depth. The class meets seven times a week placing emphasis upon quantitative lab work. In order to receive weighted grading credit for the class, students must earn a B or better in the class (click ​here​ for AP policy).
This class meets for 9 periods per six-day cycle.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have all of the following:
● Final grade of B or higher in Honors Chemistry.
● Composite score of Proficient or Advanced in all 3 Keystone Exams. OR;
● Teacher recommendation.
