This semester course will be composed of students in 10th - 12th grades. Some of the students in this class will have various needs that restrict their ability to participate in a typical Art classes. As a result of these needs, these students would benefit from a partner approach to Art class. This course would benefit students who want a career in education and/or social work. All students in this class will work together to fulfill the expectations and requirements of Art class. Students will meet six times in a 6-day cycle.
RECOMMENDATION: Student must have all of the following: ● B or better in Art class the previous year.
Photography I 856 10-12 1 0.5
Photography is designed for the student who has a sincere interest in traditional black and white photography as well as digital imaging. This course is designed for the beginning photographer as well as those who wish to sharpen previously learned skills. The course is ideal for the student who wishes to pursue photography as a potential career. Students will have access to a fully equipped darkroom. The course is approximately 50% traditional photography and 50% digital imaging.Other areas of study will include types of cameras, camera nomenclature, basic camera handling, films, photographic papers, printmaking, composition, print mounting, types of photography, studio lighting, and safety in photography.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students must provide their own 35mm camera and film as well as have their own digital camera (DSLRs are preferred).
Photography II 857 11-12 2 1
Photography II is designed for the more advanced art/photography student who has a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Photography or the Fine Arts. The course will focus on traditional and nontraditional shooting, printing, and developing techniques using black and white, color and digital media. Students will have instruction in the incorporation of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to make dynamic compositions. Students will have access to a darkroom that is fully equipped to print high quality black and white photographs. Units on digital photography and the manipulation of images will be taught in the computer lab.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students must provide their own 35mm camera and film as well as their own digital camera (DSLRs are preferred).

● Minimum grade of C or better in Photography I.
Art IV 853 11-12 2 1
This course is designed for serious art students with proven artistic abilities. Students will be given an opportunity to succeed in an in-depth challenging art course with rigorous assignments that promote independent and creative thinking and problem-solving skills in the arts. This advanced art class is for competent senior art students who plan to pursue a career in the arts or for the juniors that plan to take Advanced Placement Art class their senior year. A strong work ethic and intrinsic motivation are required to be successful in this course. Students will explore a variety of art materials and subjects as they gain a greater understanding and appreciation for art history. Students will be expected to work independently and work outside of class will be necessary for the satisfactory completion of art projects and assignments.
NOTE: This class meets every day for the entire year. PREREQUISITE: Student must have all of the following:
● B in previous art class or teacher recommendation.
● A working portfolio
● Sketchbooks will be collected on a nine-week basis.
