P. 4
Members,
This is it! We are finally at our 100th Annual Conference.
This is an event many of us have long looked forward to.
Our very first discussions started in Toronto at our 90th
Years of Us
Annual Conference 10 years ago. It was two years ago
WORLD ASSOCIATION OF DETECTIVES that Chicago was selected as the host city. I can assure
you that the planning has never stopped in those 24
months.
I especially want to thank all who have been involved
directly and indirectly in planning, executing and in
Chicago, presenting you with the best and a memorable
100 year celebration.
Also, thanks to all of you for attending this historic event
and becoming a part of WAD history. We can’t do this
without you. It saddens me that some of our long-time
members who had planned for years to be here could
not attend due to their own health issues or that of a
spouse. Please say a special prayer for them.
I have been a member for 42 years attending almost
all conferences and midterms at that time. I’m honored
to be your Executive Director for almost 20 years, and
one of very few who have ever been honored with the
distinction of becoming a President Emeritus. I’m pleased
to report that in August we reached the 1,000-member
goal for the first time. As of this writing we have 1,014
members. Special thanks to Rockne Cooke who has
been the New Applicant Manager for 15 years and
helped us reach this milestone.
In this landmark centennial year, we pause to honour the
visionaries who have steered WAD through a century of
change and challenge. Each of the President has stood
at the helm – leading us to new frontiers, embracing
change without losing sight of the traditions that define
us – a legacy that continues to light the way for those
who follow.
Sincerely,
Bob Heales
