SALARIES GO TO GHOST WORKERS!
WHENEVER they tried to apply for RDPs or jobs, they were told they were already earning good
salaries.But the group of former City of Tshwane workers lost their jobs in 2012. When they
tried to find out why they were still registered as municipal employees, they were sent from
pillar to post.
The group of 856 former cleaners, electricians and plumbers were horrified in 2017 when they
learnt they were ghost workers and someone was stealing money using their names.

Crackdown on 'ghost workers' and fraud in KZN
This comes after the arrest of at least three officials from the eThekwini Municipality in
connection with benefiting illicitly from the EPWP, where some senior officials within the city
had filled EPWP posts with ghost workers who were paid in the region of R1.2million for work
they had not done.
