Development & Change Management Skills
Development of an underdeveloped country, if nothing else, is surely about Change
Management and as so represents a scale of Change Management that dwarfs the often
ɡ
m̩
lionised undertakings of famous leaders of the largest commercial 'zuŋ u corporations.
African leaders of an underdeveloped country face a far greater degree of complexity - and
have far less control over a variety of matters.
My early training introduced me to Change Management Skills and throughout several
decades have frequently referred to the following checklist when evaluating the potential
for change in individuals, organisations and the like. All four of these have to be present to
give any prospect of achieving the desired level of genuine change
The need to change
The will to change
The ability to change
The opportunity to change
More sophisticated Change Management models have evolved.
