Your New Food Pyramid



               This food pyramid was developed by The Mediterranean Diet Foundation
               Expert Group and shows which foods you should eat as part of the diet.
               Each recipe in this book closely follows this pyramid.

                   depending on weight





                   Here are the basic percentages of each food group you should aim for
               each day, based on the Mediterranean Food Pyramid:




                           Water    7-8 cups a day (8-oz)
                       Fresh Fruits     40% • Try to opt for fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies. If
                    and Vegetables  you’re ever hungry, just know you can eat more veggies!

                     Whole Grains   25%
                    Dairy Products  10%

                     Meat, Poultry   15% • Always choose poultry over red meat. If serving
                          and Fish  red meat, make portions small.
                        Junk Food     10%
                       and Sweets
