We were received very happily by Jean’s family in Salt Lake and my

cepted. We enjoyed the beautiful, old, pink sandstone home that Laurine
and Grant had created from an old Napa Valley winery building. They
had a lovely big swimming pool that our kids were delighted with. We

family visitors: my Mother stayed with us a couple of weeks, Jeanette

Richard and Janet took care of little Vicki. Cindi slept in a carrying case
between our two beds. The summer weather can be warm in the day-
time in St. Helena but at night cool air comes in from the ocean and we
slept under blankets. In the morning when Jean and I would awaken we
would look down at our little Cindi. Though it was cool, and she would
be wet up to her nipples, she would smile at us immediately. We were
        delighted at such a temperament.

We appreciated what a lovely place we had been allowed to stay
in. We wanted to make a suitable “thank you” gift. We ordered several

In returning to Arabia, we went from New York to Naples on
the U.S.S. Independence. Helen and Stan were also aboard. The cross-
ing was rather rough and only Jean could enjoy the dining room: Ja-
net, Richard and I had queasy stomachs every day. We stopped over in
Rome. On the day when we were due to catch the plane that would take
