with his executive secretary, who invited us to drop by his house and to
meet his family, which we did. On Sunday we attended church in a new
stake center. We attempted to get an impression of housing prices, but
this was hampered a bit by the fact that, unlike the west, in Massachu-
setts, if your house is for sale you don’t post any sign in front indicating
that fact. We talked to a couple school superintendents in the area and
were impressed with the quality of schools.

ecutive management group with whom he would work. Since some of
these people had departed on trips, no group meeting could be held for
a couple weeks. I was pleased to hear that the director of research had
liked me well enough that he had passed the word that he would like to

At that time, Polaroid Corporation appeared to have a very
bright future. I was very favorably impressed with the executives who
had interviewed me. The opportunity to be a personnel manager again
was alluring. The chance to increase my salary by 50 percent was a
great attraction, because we would shortly have three kids in college
at the same time. On the other hand, we would be moving 3,000 miles
