that I have no doubt. I hope and pray that my own descendants can live
so as to be worthy of direct inspiration from the Lord.

As Christians we understand that God will render a judgment on
how we have lived our lives when our spirit has returned to Heaven after
our earthly life. The Bible tells us that not even a sparrow can fall out of
the sky but that the event is known unto God. I have no doubt whatsoev-
er that there will be a life after the death of my body on this Earth. After
my earthly death, I will judged by God, with His full knowledge of all
my actions. I think I have done relatively few truly bad things during my
earth life, but I fear that my chief regret will be that I did not do more
acts of kindness and generosity. I have paid my tithing all my life and
have tried to be of service, especially through civic and church opportu-
nities. Jean and I have endowed a family charitable foundation with its

them by spoiling them. I think, however, back to a church service I at-
tended at an Episcopal church in Williamsburg, Virginia. That church
does not practice tithing and a speaker that Sunday was appealing for
donations. He said something that I have never forgotten. He said, “The

God, how much of your assets dare you retain?” I think a question at my
judgment before God will likely be, “Why didn’t you do more?”

Life has taught me the surpassing importance of love. My great-
est blessings have been the love I have received from Jean, our children,
our grandchildren, my parents and my brothers and sisters and their
husbands and wives. Their love has been of value beyond my ability to
        express.
Life has taught me the enormous importance of acts of kindness.
When we think of doing something kind for someone else, we feel an
inner glow of happiness. If we think about the act but fail to follow up
by doing it, we are cheating. When you think of some kindness that
needs to be done, do it without delay. Don’t procrastinate and don’t
allow yourself to think that someone else could or should do it. Such
