or inexperience. One would hope to pass on knowledge gained in your
own lifetime in order to spare your loved ones unhappiness in theirs and
to point out sources that will bring happiness in their lives.

My life has taught me the existence of God. The world and ev-
erything in it – human, animal, vegetable and mineral – are immensely
complex. Only a Supreme Being could have created our world. Any
other conclusion is about as irrational as expecting that an explosion in
a printing plant would produce a well-organized encyclopedia.

My life has been blessed by my mother’s teaching of the power
of prayer. There have been times of hardship and struggle that I nev-

Sometimes prayer has produced overt guidance, such as the time a voice
spoke to me on our way back from the interviews at Polaroid. In numer-
ous other situations there were events or personal inspirations that could
only result from an external, supreme source. I witnessed Bishop Ed

was one of the true sons of God who sought to do His bidding with
consistency and the Lord guided him in ways that were awe-inspiring
to me. He believed in the power of prayer, he lived worthily in every
respect, and when he sought direction from the Lord he received it. Of
