               Thanks so much to all who took part. All proceeds from the
               event went towards ‘Ukrainian refugees’.

               Commissions


               One of the most satisfying experiences for a choral composer
               is working on commissions. Here, a special relationship
               develops between you and the one you are writing for. The
               plan, of course, is to compose something that meets their
               expectations.
               In 2022, I had the great pleasure of writing a wedding piece
               for two very special people, Jenny and Iain, who got married
               in October.  They chose the poem ‘As two lives become one’
               and I wrote the music to it. We put together a small choir and
               it was great to sing that to them at the wedding.

               Merton Singfest is a chance for choirs, both young and old, to
               come together and celebrate music in the borough. At the
               beginning of this year, I approached Wimbledon Choral with
               the idea of writing something for them to be performed at
               the Merton Singfest in May. They kindly accepted and soon
               after ‘Little Trotty Wagtail’ was born. Taking the text from a
               charming poem by John Clare, I enjoyed writing musical
               expressions that caught the antics of the wagtail. If you are in
